Senior Fellow in the European Affairs area at the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) and Adjunct Professor at the “Roma Tre” University in Rome. She works mainly on EU foreign and security policies, EU civilian crisis management, EU policy towards sub-Saharan Africa and EU relations with other organizations – United Nations, NATO and African Union - in the field of peace and security. She regularly contributes to the IAI’s publications, both as author and editor, and has published a number of articles and book chapters in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes. In 2012, she served as Seconded National Expert by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the European External Action Service, where she worked on civilian capability development for crisis management. Previously, she has been research fellow in the European Foreign and Security Policy Studies Programme and visiting fellow at the EU Institute for Security Studies in Paris. She graduated in Political Science at the University of Pisa and at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa. She also obtained a MA Degree in European Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium) and a PhD in Institutions and Politics from the Catholic University in Milan.
