Social geographer with interests in social environmental science, political ecology, architecture, urban planning, development, and welfare economics. His research has explored the socio-technical, economic and political dynamics in the rise of energy vulnerability in developed and developing countries alike. He is Professor of Geography at the School of Environment, Education and Development, at the University of Manchester. He was awarded the Larkinson, Scatcherd and Dulverton scholarships at the University of Oxford between 1999 and 2003.
